Maxomorra was founded by Johan Ström and his wife in Sweden in 2008 with the aim of making colourful, fun, sustainable and affordable children’s clothing. Right from the start they used only organic cotton, organically certified dyes, socially responsible textile manufacturing and low environmental impact transportation. Maxomorra became a GOTS certified brand in 2011, this means that they use only organically grown cotton, there is no use of synthetic pesticides or dangerous levels of chemicals, that there are basic social employment conditions in the manufacturing of their clothes and traceability throughout their production chain.
All their cotton clothes are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). For their products that contains not only cotton, like velour, Maxomorra use The Organic Content Standard (OCS). This standard, developed by the Textile Exchange organization, relies on a third-party verification to validate that the final product contains the accurate amount of a given organically grown material.
